Privacy Policy

Maddiewade LTD operates the maddiewadeauthor.co.uk website, which provides the independent publishing.

This page is used to inform website visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.

If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation with this policy. The Personal Information that we collect are used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is accessible at maddiewadeauthor.co.uk , unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

For a better experience while using our Service, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to your name, phone number, and postal address. The information that we collect will be used to contact or identify you.

Log Data

We want to inform you that whenever you visit our Service, we collect information that your browser sends to us that is called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser version, pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other statistics.

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. We use them to understand how visitors find and use our site, and to measure our advertising, so that we can improve both.

We do not set any optional cookies until you tell us we may. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies, marketing cookies, both or neither. Nothing in the two categories below loads until you choose to accept it, and you can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.

Analytics cookies — Google Analytics

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<id>, which expire after 2 years and contain a randomly generated identifier allowing Google to recognise a returning browser. They do not tell us who you are by name.

Through Google Analytics we collect: the pages you view and the order you view them in, the time spent on each page, the site or search engine that referred you, your approximate location (city level, derived from your IP address), your device type, operating system, browser, screen size and language, and interactions such as clicks and scrolls. Google Analytics 4 does not store your full IP address — it is used to derive approximate location and is then discarded.

Marketing cookies — Meta (Facebook) Pixel

If you accept marketing cookies, we use the Meta Pixel, provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland. The Pixel tells us which of our book pages you viewed after clicking one of our adverts, so we can measure whether our advertising is working, and allows us to show adverts for our books to you and to similar audiences on Facebook and Instagram.

This involves sharing information about your visit with Meta, who may combine it with data they already hold about you. Where United States privacy law treats this as "selling" or "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, you can opt out simply by declining marketing cookies, or by withdrawing consent later through the Cookie settings link. Meta's privacy policy is available at facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Legal basis

For visitors in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, we rely on your consent (UK GDPR and EU GDPR Article 6(1)(a)) for both analytics and marketing cookies. Neither is strictly necessary for the website to function, which is why we ask first. You may withdraw consent at any time, and doing so does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it. Declining does not restrict any part of this website.

International transfers

Data collected through Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States. Google LLC and Meta Platforms, Inc. are both certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension (the UK–US data bridge), and both additionally apply the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and EU Standard Contractual Clauses as safeguards for these transfers.

Retention

Google Analytics user and event data is retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Meta retains Pixel data in line with its own retention policy. Aggregated reports that cannot identify an individual may be kept for longer.

How to opt out

You can decline optional cookies in our banner, or change your choice at any time via Cookie settings in the footer. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which blocks Google Analytics on every site you visit, and adjust your advert preferences in your Facebook ad settings. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy, and details of how Google uses data from sites using its services are at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Your rights

The data controller is Maddiewade LTD. If you are in the UK or the EEA you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or another US state with comprehensive privacy legislation, you have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. Declining marketing cookies, or withdrawing that consent through the Cookie settings link, gives effect to that opt-out. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at maddiewadeauthor.co.uk.
