About the book
Holy crisp Batman this was an amazing ending to an amazing series.
To see the sunrise, he must defeat the darkness. Trapped in an ever-darkening circle of hell, Smithy’s only reason for living is the woman he almost destroyed. Watching her from afar as the guilt of his sins pull him under, he knows the only way to keep her safe is to kill again. But when Lizzie turns her back on him because he won’t fight for a life he doesn’t deserve, Smithy realises that just maybe he might have one more fight in him, and this one will be the toughest of his life.
Lizzie had her beautiful life ripped from her. Kidnapped and broken almost beyond repair, she has fought with every breath to be the woman worthy of her soul mate. As the fight with the Divine Watchers heats up, she must decide if she has enough left in her to give the man she has loved her entire life another chance, especially after he broke her heart once more and for her own wellbeing, she had to walk away.
As Smithy uncovers secrets that devastate him, he has a choice to make—to move forward and let Lizzie in or turn her away for a final time and make the ultimate sacrifice.
Faced with an impossible decision, can love survive the darkness and see another sunrise?
What readers are saying
★★★★★Wow! What an ending to a series... I absolutely knew Lizzie and Smithy's book was going to be emotional but obviously, it not just about them, the whole Fortis Team are in the line of fire... Can they finally find a way to defeat the Watchers or will there be a cost? And if so, who? Life has taken Smithy and Lizzie years to finally find each other, each time they get close, they are blown apart, heartbroken, devastated and aching for each other...but not any more. For Smithy, Lizzie is everything. But will love be enough? I got angry, I under my breath... I hoped that Fortis would succeed, but at no point did I stop reading. I couldn't stop reading! I ended up reading it in one sitting (stuff the housework!) What can I say, I am gutted it is the final book but I want - no actually, I NEED more Eidolon and new series to come too. Well done Maddie.
★★★★★I cannot say enough how much I have loved reading this series. I am truly sad to see it end but what a incredible ending it was. At one point when the girls didn't wake up. I thought, OMG tell me this is not how it ends but then there was the six months after and the epilogue that gave the story the most amazing ending. Smithy and Lizzie went through so much suffering so there happy ending is well deserved.
